Strict enough to be Nice..(blog 7)

The Strict Father Model to me as Lakoff explains would be the "ONLY ONE" who is providing for the family..the ALPHA DOG so to speak...this model makes sure his family is well taking care of and things are done the way "HE" want them . His view is that of once you leave home your own your on no coming back. I was raised in the south by BOTH my grandparents and my grandfathers was very strict about everything, he told me one time what to do how to do it and I better had  had it done that way or all hell broke loose. My grand dad taught me how to sew, cook ,clean, garden, and work on cars...he told me that he never wanted me to depend on a man for anything if i didn't have too, and because of this I am the strong independent woman I am today... In his famous words " I am he ALPHA and OMEGA around here...lmao (may his soul rest in paradise)

Now on the other hand, the NURTURER Model  family which consists of both parents (which I was raised by both) who are involves more in the children lives. My grandfather was the strict model and my grand mom was the nurturer. Both of them was concerned about my well being but in two totally different ways, my grandmother always made sure I had lunch for school, made sure I had money in my pocket and that I was enjoying the things that I did...my grandfather NO..he didn't care if my day was great or not as long as the things he wanted done were done. I had no friends when i moved to the south so my grand mom tried her best to make sure that i was comfortable and had the things that I needed just like the rest of the other kids...she always told me i was pretty and that i could achieve or be anything I wanted to be...after a crazy day of dealing with the wild world with my grandfather, she would always say that my grand dad is hard on me because he dont want me to have to depend on anyone for anything. She would always have a bowl of peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream for me after hanging around my grandfather all day because she knew it was my favorite and she love to see the smile on my face.
